I want my TVBF (contest for those fessing up)
I was cracking up earlier this evening reading this same article in our local paper. All about the advantages of TVBF's. Yes TV Boyfriends. Here are some of the details:
"What is TV Boyfriend? The sole rule is that TVBF must appear regularly (or must have appeared regularly) on TV. No special guest-star bits, no made-for-TV movies (that would make him a TVONS, or TV One-Night-Stand). Otherwise, take your pick: prime-time series, daytime talk shows, TV news, infomercials -- the small screen's your oyster, baby.
This marvelously elastic concept knows no barriers of race, class or creed. Sexual orientation matters not at all: For example, gay men can, of course, have a TV boyfriend, but they could also have a TV girlfriend if they wish. (Henceforth, for brevity's sake, "TVBF" will be used to refer to the whole conceptual megillah, reg"ardless of actual gender.)"
I know there a lot of people claiming Jon Stewart and Steven Cobert as their TVBF's - like you Rachel. Didn't you and Lala lay claim a while back????
So...contest... Fess up as to who your TVBF (or TVBFs) is/are by Sunday 10pm PST and all that confess will have their names thrown into an empty cat food bag and the winner will be drawn at random. Prize? Something fiber/knitting related.
Give me 24 hours or so and I will fess up too!

I don't know if TV "boy friend" is really the correct term, but I do enjoy watching Mike Rowe from "Dirty Jobs." There is something endearing about a man who is willing to sheer a sheep, eat raw geoducks and wade in sewage. Many tv, movie-star types would balk at the mere idea of discomfort. And obviously his self-image/identity doesn't hinge on designer clothes or a fancy car.
Easiest contest ever. My TVBF would be Keifer Sutherland. Doesn't hurt that his voice overs are on every other commercial either :)
My TVBF would have to be Jack on Lost, Matthew Fox. And Alex Baldwin. Hey, no one said you could only have one. Until there's a ring on my finger, I get to date around...
Damn, this is where not watching tv is going to be a major hindrance! :)
Oh, boy, how to choose? I think first on the list has to be Hugh Laurie as Dr. Gregory House. Followed by Josh Holloway as Sawyer from Lost. As my mother used to say, they can leave cracker crumbs in my bed anytime.
Who else, but Johnny Depp, circa 21 Jumpstreet?? Yum!
mmmm....William L. Peterson from CSI: Las Vegas. I fell in love with him in Manhunter waaaay back in 1986 and was thrilled when he became by TVBF!! yummy - and i love that he plays a total forensic nerd. very focused. big brain. uber sexy.
Mike Rowe - Dirty Jobs. He's funny, used to sing opera professionally and I think he's absolutely adorable!
Super easy to answer. I waste a mindless hour of my life every Thursday night watching 'Supernatural' on the CW because I am madly in love with Jensen Ackles. He is such a Hottie McHotterson! What's funny is that my husband just called me out on this last week. :)
Hmm, well I'd be all over David Duchovny from X-files, or Ben Browder from Farscape, or Nathan Fillion from Firefly. Yep, love sci-fi, and sci-fi guys. :-)
Goran Visnjic who plays Luka Kovac on ER. Oh course now that John Stamos is on the show it's a little distracting.
Another vote for Mike Rowe. I want to have his children.
Dean Cain as Clark Kent. Perfect boyfriend material (except for that slight unreliability thing)!
Remington Steele (fans self).
Benton Fraser from Due South.
Mmmm... Jason Bateman on Arrested Development.
David Tennant - Dr Who :)
Hiya, I wandered over from Stumbling over Chaos...
Mine would be Brad Chase alias Mark Valley from Boston Legal. Man oh man, is he eye candy or what?
There's a few others that I wouldn't mind leaving crackers in my bed either (to quote someone in the previous comments), but he's THE ONE!!!
Cheers Eva
Oh yeah, Keifer Sutherland. I just melt when I hear him, see him.
Carter Osterhouse on TLC and HGTV - that man can come build anything he wants for me - as long as he does it with his shirt off! Wow - killer smile, lurvley 6 pack.
My current TVBF is Jesse Spencer, who plays Dr. Chase on House. :)
I have 3 (does that make me trampy?);
My current:Keifer Sutherland (24)
My exes:
Chris Noth (Law and Order)
George Cloney (ER)
My first ever TVBF was Fox Mulder. I had the biggest crush on Agent Mulder, not only was he beautiful but he had a sense of humor! I still watch the X-Files reruns on cable, just for the eye candy - mmmmmmm. My current TVBFs are Dr. McDreamy (omg, the hair! the eyes!)and Dr. Christian Troy (what an amazing smile!). Both are beautiful and charmingly arrogant, what's not to love.
My TVBF is Jeremy Sisto, who played Billy on "Six Feet Under" and now is on the soon-to-be-gone show "Kidnapped"
Admittedly, I'm a bit older than most of your readers, so my TVBF is a bit older, too: Mandy Patinkin who plays Agent Gideon on Criminal Minds. Since Dr. Jeffery Geiger on Chicago Hope (http://www.cbs.com/primetime/criminal_minds/bios/mandy_bio.shtml)
There were several on Chicago Hope that were cool - Hector Elizondo, Mark Harmon (ok...now on NCIS, and yes I watch him, too, so perhaps he's #2TVBF?)
Thanks for letting me participate!
(((hugs)))
I'm going to go with (I wish!) Julian Rhind-Tutt - stupid name, but yum!!! (He's a British actor who generally appears in slightly off-beat stuff such as Green Wing)
I'm de-lurking to be de-trampy. I'd have to say Dr. Dreamy from Grey's Anatomy, Luka from ER (notice a trend?) and to totally round it out Ami James from Miami Ink. Gotta love a little bad boy!
I've had gajillions of TVBFs over the decades, but my most current (and most obvious, since I have a whole Web site devoted to him at http://theminx.com/dk/gallery) is David Krumholtz of CBS' Numb3rs.
I'm so glad Chris listed your contest. It was fun to see everyone's TVBF.
I think I have two, but I'm not sure the second one counts.
1. Patrick Dempsey from Grey's Anatomy (but his character can be so mean sometimes).
2. Lebron James... I'm not sure if he counts because he is the star player for the Cleveland Cavaliers. I figure, if I have to sit through sports with the boy, I might as well enjoy the eye candy. He has heard me on several occasions say "Oh, look, it's my next husband!"
~Thanks for the fun contest!!
My first TVBF ever was Jake from Melrose Place. I'm pretty sure we could have stood a chance if it hadn't been for that tramp Amanda. And Jo. And Jane and everyone else in between.
But I've moved on... first to Mal (Nathan Fillion) from Firefly and now Jon Stewart from Daily Show.
Ooh, Mal would be a great choice.
My tvguy of the moment would be Captain Lee Adama, Jamie Barber of the new Battlestar Gallatica.
And you should hear him speak in his native accent.
My TVBFs are Goron Visnc from ER (I can't spell his name, but spelling never played into any of my fantasies anyhow) and David Tennent who plays Dr. Who.
dr. house (hugh laurie) for sure! it seems wrong that he's so hot but he so is!
My new TVBF is Michael Fassbender who plays Azazeal on Hex (BBC).
Current TVBF: William L. Peterson from the original CSI--love me some Grissom. Although, Sayid from Lost does it for me too.
Ex-TVBF Patrick Stewart from Star Trek: Next Generation. That voice gets me every time.
Great contest! Dr. House is definitely my #1 boyfriend. But if I had to pick another the Det. Goren from L&O Criminal Intent (love me some Vincent D'onofrio)
My TVBF is Wentworth Miller from Prisonbreak. It's gone completely downhill since they broke out of Prison, but I still watch it for his dreaminess.
My TVBF is Captain Lee "Apollo" Adama on Battlestar Galactica. No question.
Illya Kuryakin was my very first TVBF, and now that I'm, um, "mature", it's Ducky Mallard for me. David McCallum still rocks. (Mark Harmon's not bad for a kid either.)
Very cute contest! Umm, well, how about these for starters??
Sawyer from Lost, Agent Booth from Bones, McDreamy from Grey's Anatomy, and Sam Tyler from BBC's Life on Mars. Mmm...
Heh - fun idea.
Going solely on currently airing shows, I have to say Josh Holloway on Lost.
*sighs* Bad boys...
From back in the day, Chris Noth of the original L&O.
Nowadays....Since I only watch History Channel or Discovery, it's hard to say. Why can't Colin Firth be on regular TV? Wait, he appears regularly on "MY" TV (DVD set of Pride and Prejudice). Does that count?
I'd pick Ted from "How I Met Your Mother." He seems like he'd be a nice boyfriend. =)
My TVBF has got to be Horatio Caine from CSi: Miami. I've always loved guys with red hair, and his character is just so kind and compassionate to the victims and the innocents. He could totally be my hero any day!
